Fro Yo time! It's really easy to make your own homemade frozen yoghurt, and if you use the low fat yoghurt it will be much healthier than regular full fat ice cream.

Ingredients

  • Plain
  • 2 cups / 500g Greek natural yoghurt
  • ½ cup caster sugar (or 3 tbsp honey / agave nectar)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • To make a fruit frozen yoghurt:
  • 400g frozen fruit (mango, blueberries, strawberries etc)
  • 1 cup / 250g Greek yoghurt
  • ¼ cup caster sugar / 2 tbsp honey / agave nectar

Instructions

  1. Plain:
  2. Mix all ingredients together for 2 minutes so the sugar dissolves
  3. Next you can either use your ice cream maker to freeze and churn it
  4. Or if you don’t have one, just freeze the yoghurt in a plastic tub
  5. Every couple of hours when it is half frozen take it out and stir it well either by hand or pop it into a blender.
  6. The reason we have to do this is to break down the ice crystals to make it smooth.
  7. The more times you churn it the smoother it will be

  1. Instant fruit Fro Yo:
  2. If you want a quick frozen yoghurt freeze the fruit before hand
  3. Add to a food processor with the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth
  4. You can eat it straight away
  5. Or if it’s too runny just pop it in the freezer in a tub for another hour or two
  6. Give it a good stir up to make it smoother half way through freezing time and then freeze it again
  7. If you use fresh fruit, just blend it all together with the ingredients and pop in a tub to freeze or using an ice cream maker
