Forget the jars this Christmas, learn how to make your very own Cranberry Sauce. You’ll be impressing the in laws with this one!


  • 300g / 2 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 eating apple, peeled and chopped into small bits
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 125g / ¾ cup caster sugar
  • 5 tbsp / ¼ cup /50ml Port
  • ¼ tsp allspice


  1. Pop all the ingredients into a large saucepan apart from 1 tablespoon of the port
  2. Bring to the boil
  3. Turn heat down and leave to simmer uncovered for 8 to 10 minutes or until it goes thick and mushy When it’s ready stir in the last tablespoon of port
  4. Leave to cool and serve with your Christmas dinner
